AUTUMN 2025 WARCRY TIER LIST! ft. Wargames on Toast

The new WarCry errata is upon us so Wargames on Toast and I decided to take a look at all the factions in the game and try to figure out where they are likely to place in the upcoming competitive meta. We both feel like WarCry as a game doesn't suit tierlists all that well but as a bit of fun we put our heads together to put something together. For a full explanation of each of the factions and why they went where they are (and I really urge you to do that... there are some interesting Hot Takes in there) you can check out the full video here:

If you are just here for a list of faction names though then you are in the right place! A word of warning about taking pretty much anything here as gospel; This is largely based on the kinds of lists that we think will do well in the upcoming competitive meta based on where the Autumn 2025 update is pushing us but of course we love to be surprised!

As a (very) rough guide:

S Factions most able to win at an event thanks to relative points efficiency of their fighters, abilities, or having easy answers to certain other common builds. Usually these warbands will be able to leverage one or more of the stronger mechanics in the game such as resurrect, powerful shooting, extreme damage numbers or large numbers.

A Factions still easily able to go 4-4, if not win an event. Just not as easily as S-Tier. These warbands are normally very strong but with distinct weaknesses or difficult playstyles to leverage.

B Most of these factions should be able to go 3-1 and are definitely able to win an event. These are fine picks if you want to flex your player skill and creativity without necessarily wanting to go for the absolute top of the power scale.

C Factions we would expect to be able to go 2-2 in a 4 round event. They are all perfectly serviceable as more casual warbands but it will generally take a lot more work to get better results out of them due to relative points efficiency of their fighters, abilities, or not having easy answers to certain common builds.

D Factions we would expect to go 1-3 in a 4 round event. We wouldn't necessarily recommend these factions to players in a competitive setting but casually they can still do things especially against the bottom rungs of C-Tier.

The Big Winners

Skaven

Soulblight Gravelords

Royal Beastflayers

Teratic Cohort

Yildran Riverblades

The big counter change in this update have meant that stocks are up in nearly every S3 aelf faction. In terms of targeted nerfs the top end of the meta is looking to be tighter but Skaven and Disposessed are still likely to dominate. Despite the hits to Rat Ogres and Packmasters, Skaven still have a number of strong builds available to them and players have been learning what works and what doesn't over the past year. Since the RBF code has been cracked at the beginning of this year its likely that they will be able to continue to dominate in skilled hands, and no Soulblight nerfs this time around probably mean that they will rise to the top of the meta once again.

In our opinion the BIG winners from the more direct buffs are Teratic Cohort and Yildran Riverblades (with more modest buffs to the rest of the struggling bespoke factions pulling them out of unplayable status). We believe that they are both solidly in B-Tier now with both their gimmicks working well (indirect damage through Riverblades, and Wild Dice generation respectively) as well as aggressive points cuts to their midrange fighters allowing for larger warbands to be played.
